Full Job Description
The City of Chesapeake Public Works Department is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Engineer I to join our Facilities Maintenance Team.

Do you like solving problems? Do you have good communication and organizational skills? Do you enjoy being part of a team? If so, and you would like to be part of the City of Chesapeake's Facility Maintenance team, then we would like to meet with you and discuss your qualifications for this position.

Duties include, but are not limited to:


  • Manages small to medium sized maintenance projects.
  • Repairs and improvement projects to include roof replacements, pavement and sidewalk repair and replacement, generator and HVAC replacements, security improvements, etc., at City facilities.
  • Works with consultants, Architecture/Engineering firms, and code officials to produce engineering studies and designs for a variety of facility projects.
  • Works with City customers to design and construct renovations in City facilities.
  • Works with Purchasing to develop/update specifications for IDIQ maintenance contracts (plumbing, HVAC, electrical, etc.).
