Position Title (Business Title): Ex. Director, Development Business Partner
Position Purpose:
The Executive Director, Development Business Partner will be the strategic advisor for the Clinical, Pharmacovigilance, Regulatory, Real-World Evidence and R&D Strategic Operations leaders of the R&D organization. They will be responsible for understanding the needs of our business and translating those needs into holistic, enterprise leveraged solutions. This role serves as a thought leader, able to plan for future demands and needs based on macro technology industry trends as well as advocate for the business to align and prioritize their needs against the aggregate IT portfolio. Additionally, this role will partner with the other solution leaders across Enterprise Systems and I&T to ensure integrated value, dependencies and leverage is achieved. This role will lead the R&D Architecture function and the creation/maintenance of the R&D City Plan. In addition, this role will have accountability for the cross-R&D Japan business relationship.

Main Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Business Partner leadership: For the Clinical, RWE, Pharmacovigilance, Regulatory Affairs and Strategic Operations area across R&D. Effectively engage and partner with the leader and key thoughts leaders within each function to develop priorities aligned to the business strategy and objectives. In addition, the leader will translate those priorities to the roadmap development, delivery execution and track value creation.
Execution Leadership: Accountable for the continuous evolution, sustaining change for the designated solution assets within the R&D Development portfolio. Align and execution various program and project initiatives to ensure appropriate prioritization and delivery excellence. Escalate risks and issues accordingly
Talent Development: Hire, develop and retain critical talent, modernization our delivery and development methodologies to align to a platform delivery mindset. Establish and manage relationships with trusted technology and service partners
SI and Technology Partner Management: Maintain positive relationships with targeted SI and Technology vendors within the designated portfolio. Ensure vendors are managed, working with the broader Vendor Mgmt. Office and Procurement to ensure a high level of performance. Ensure timely execution of contracts and invoices.
Continuous Improvement and Agile Modernization: Drive future value creation through the usage of agile delivery methodologies, as well as seek the adoption of DevOps to further automation and quality. Become the change agent in the shift to a Product delivery model
Stakeholder Collaboration: Managing both business and I&T stakeholders, ensure successful collaboration and alignment of requirements and solutions enabled by the platform, creating and communicating a coherent and tangible roadmap
Technology Expert – Stay up to date on current trends in industry as well as within the technology landscape which you are accountable for, adoption and leveraging to drive improvements and value for the enterprise
Financial Accountability – Lead an organization and the financial stewardship of the operations and portfolio delivery. Tracking of business value achieved through I&T portfolio and services.
Position Qualifications and Experience Requirements:
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field.
Experience
- 15+ years of progressive experience within the technology landscape, demonstrating continued growth and span of experience
- 10+ years executing and building solutions with a strong focus on R&D related processes and solutions. Preferred experience with Veeva capabilities and delivery.
- 7+ years of experience delivering solutions in highly regulated environments.
- 5+ years of experience working as a business partner, directly engaging with business stakeholders to prioritize needs and requirements.
- 3+ years delivering solutions leveraging modern cloud PaaS. Strong understanding of cloud application architecture patterns and experience leveraging DevSecOps
- 3+ years delivering solutions through agile methodology
- 3+ years demonstrated experience delivering solutions at a global enterprise scale
Competencies
