Full Job Description
The Treasury Department's Office of Microeconomic Analysis anticipates having one or more openings for well-qualified economists interested in helping develop economic policy at the federal level. New graduates and experienced economists are welcome to apply. Our office conducts research and analysis for senior Treasury and Administration officials and the public on a wide range of economic issues, including fiscal policy, energy and the environment, health, entitlement programs, pensions, labor, education, housing, insurance, regulation, technological change, infrastructure, and financial markets. Staff economists work closely with top policymakers throughout the federal government while also pursuing their own research agenda, as time permits.
The work requires skills usually associated with a Ph.D. in economics or similar degree. In addition, successful candidates must have the ability to present their views clearly and concisely in written and oral briefings, often under tight time constraints.
Our office values diversity and encourages people of all backgrounds to apply. We are committed to creating and maintaining a work environment that 1) attracts the widest pool of talent; 2) provides opportunities for all employees to maximize their potential and contribute to the agency's mission; and 3) ensures all employees are treated with dignity and respect.
