Full Job Description

The Division of Adolescent and Transition Medicine seeks a visionary, dynamic, innovative, and collaborative new division director.

DIVISION OF ADOLESCENT AND TRANSITION MEDICINE:

The Division's long-term goals are to transform adolescent health outcomes through:

1. Exceptional primary and consultative care clinical programs

2. High-impact clinical and translational research

3. Innovative educational programs and

4. Effective academic and community partnerships.

The division is renowned nationally and internationally for excellence in adolescent medicine research, clinical care, and education. It features exceptional programs including hospital-based primary care and specialized consultative practices addressing eating disorders, mental health, transgender care, LGBTQ+ health, HIV, substance use disorders, and sexual and reproductive health. The division also provides primary care at the city's juvenile detention center. The division's faculty participate in clinical care, research, and medical education. Some faculty are primarily clinical, others focus on research, many engage in both, and several are also engaged in teaching and administrative duties at both divisional and institutional levels.

Our research mission is to be the leader in innovation and discovery while transforming the lives of youth and their families. We achieve this by conducting collaborative, externally funded research that transforms adolescent health and health equity while mentoring trainees at all levels. Half of our faculty hold external research funding, with $831,746 in extramural funding in FY 2024. Current research focuses on sexual and reproductive health (HIV prevention, HPV vaccines, STI diagnostics), transgender health, environmental influences on puberty, and eating disorder outcomes, with plans to expand research on eating disorders and substance abuse.

The director will serve as the Rauh Chair in Adolescent Medicine. The Rauh Chair was established in 1995 to fund a portion of the Division Director's salary. This endowed chair serves as a permanent tribute to two pioneers in the field of medicine: Joseph (Jerry) M. Rauh, MD who earned an international reputation as one of the founders of Adolescent Medicine and his aunt, Louise W. Rauh, MD who helped forge the way for women in pediatrics and established the first cardiac care program for children in Cincinnati.
