Overview
Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) is seeking a Director for its State Advocacy team. Reporting into the Deputy Vice President of State Advocacy, the Director will play a key role in executing the association’s strategies to advance PhRMA’s state advocacy priorities.
The Director is responsible for:
- Contributing to the development and execution of cohesive national, state-by-state strategy.
- Analyzing the status of priority legislation and preparing regular intelligence reports to support advocacy decision making by department leadership.
- Collaborating with colleagues across PhRMA based on priorities established by leadership and the PhRMA Board to execute advocacy strategies across the U.S.
- Developing regular internal and company-facing communications regarding key state developments.
- Providing support and leadership in the planning and execution of advocacy initiatives and events as needed.
- Supporting PhRMA's state campaign efforts and state ballot measure program by tracking issues relevant to PhRMA’s priorities.
- Performing other duties as assigned.

Professional Experience / Requirements`
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 6+ years of progressively responsible relevant professional experience.
- Thorough understanding of state legislative and political processes and the role of state agencies, think tanks, and advocacy groups.
- Commitment to exceptional work-product quality.
- Skilled organizational and project-management skills with the ability to balance the needs to various internal and external parties with flexibility and a steady temperament.
- Strong writing and editing skills and the ability to write for disparate audiences.
- Strong reputation as a trusted partner exemplifying integrity and ethical conduct.
Potential Salary
$132,600 - $182,300 per annum. Salary is commensurate with experience and other compensable factors.
