Job Description/Key Responsibilities:
The Screening & Compound Profiling group at our Research Laboratories site in Rahway, NJ is looking for a highly motivated individual with an extensive background in high-throughput screening to lead an Automation & Informatics team. Incumbent will manage a team of ~ten senior professionals executing biochemical & cellular High Throughput Screening (HTS) for target and lead discovery in a multi-disciplinary drug discovery environment enabling programs across oncology, immunology, neuroscience, cardiometabolic and infectious disease. In addition, incumbent will enable newer screening technologies (e.g. arrayed CRISPR, cell painting, mRNA-Display & high-throughput mass spectrometry) with 'at-scale' automation and ensure that data is captured, analyzed and curated in a manner enabling ML/AI (in partnership with IT). Incumbent will contribute to a high-performance culture of inclusion, collaboration, engagement and self-accountability and promote our external reputation by contributing to publications and participating in external symposia.
Education:
Advanced Degree in Biomedical engineering, Pharmacological Sciences, Biochemistry, Cell Pharmacology or equivalent plus >10 (PhD) or >20 (MSc) years experience in HTS, Automation and Informatics in an industry/biotech setting.
Required Skills & Experience:
Detailed interactions with therapeutic areas and chemistry across high-throughput screening, hit-to-lead and/or lead optimization discovery space.
Subject matter expert in biochemical & cell-based high throughput assay development, miniaturization and automation across multiple platforms/modalities.
Able to collaborate and thrive in a matrix team environment integrating automation, informatics, in vitro pharmacology and biology.
Experienced in the acquisition and registration of samples across modalities including small molecules, peptides and CRISPR guides.
Knowledge and experience working with CRO's, externalizing/internalizing projects/assays/reagents to solve for Capacity and Capabilities.
Experience managing/developing scientists and a track record of successfully leading projects/teams to clear outcomes.
Passion for fostering a diverse and inclusive culture and contributing to the growth and success of colleagues.
Strong external reputation as evidenced through publications, presentations, and/or scientific community engagement.
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with a proven track-record of maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
Demonstrated collaboration with data scientists and 'wet-lab' to optimally position foundational data for ML/AI.
Knowledgeable in considerations leading to fit-for-purpose automation/informatics solutions e.g. prototypes, minimally viable products or sustainable, at-scale.
Collaboration with project teams to develop innovative approaches to phenotypic screening for small molecule & functional genomic discovery efforts.
Interaction with affinity-based screening teams/technologies (DEL, AS/MS, mRNA-Display) and adjacent functions (protein generation, biophysics).

U.S. Hybrid Work Model
Effective September 5, 2023, employees in office-based positions in the U.S. will be working a Hybrid work consisting of three total days on-site per week, generally Tuesday, Wednesday and either Monday or Thursday, although the specific days may vary by site or organization, with Friday designated as a remote-working day, unless business critical tasks require an on-site presence. The Company is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this job in certain states and cities within the United States. Final determinations with respect to salary will take into account a number of factors, which may include, but not be limited to the primary work location and the chosen candidate's relevant skills, experience, and education.
Expected US salary range:
