Full Job Description

The Director, Government Relations will interact with federal legislative and regulatory bodies to represent and advance Mosaic’s business plans and interests. The candidate will be responsible for monitoring, assessing, and influencing pending legislation and regulation in partnership with our trade associations and organizational subject matter experts. This position will help ensure we put our best foot forward in influencing the future environment for the fertilizer industry.

What will you do?

  • Government Affairs Strategy: Partner with internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement comprehensive government affairs strategies aligned with business objectives and regulatory priorities.

  • Legislative Advocacy: Monitor legislative developments, identify emerging issues impacting the industry and advocate for favorable outcomes.

  • External Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, legislators, regulators and industry associations, represent Mosaic’s interests and advocate for our initiatives. Collaborate with industry peers, trade associations, and advocacy groups to build coalitions, coordinate advocacy efforts, and amplify our collective voice on priority issues.

  • Internal Stakeholder Partnership: Work closely with the rest of Mosaic’s public affairs group and subject matter experts to ensure alignment of advocacy messaging, formulate and prioritize Mosaic’s positions regarding legislative and regulatory issues.

  • Policy Analysis: Analyze proposed legislation, regulations, and public policy initiatives to assess their potential impact on the industry and provide recommendations to senior leadership in the development of advocacy positions and messaging.

  • Regulatory Knowledge: Stay abreast of regulatory requirements and changes affecting the fertilizer and mining sectors at the federal level, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, and proactively engaging with regulators to address regulatory matters.

What do you need for this role?

  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred.

  • 10 - 15 years of Public Policy Issue Identification, Development, and Advocacy experience

  • Strategic Planning experience

  • 10 years of Government Liaising experience

  • Political and Social Dynamics experience

  • Leadership and Managing People experience.

  • Project Management

  • Microsoft Office Suite
