Your Opportunity:
The Design Engineer researches and designs components and mechanical systems for Ditch Witch products. He or she uses CAD (Computer Aided Drafting) equipment to create or modify model files of machine components and systems and works closely with various component suppliers and other engineers that have mechanical, electrical, and/or hydraulic responsibilities. This employee directs the work of drafter/illustrators, layout personnel, and technicians, and perform other duties as assigned.

Work Location:
This role is 5 days on-site in Perry, Oklahoma. This opportunity is not eligible for remote or hybrid work options at this time.
What Will You Do?
In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for:
Analyzes product specifications & performance requirements to determine designs which provide a good balance of performance, functionality, cost & ease of manufacture.
Directs & physically participates when needed in the construction & testing of prototypes to evaluate the design & functionality of the product.
Solicits & evaluates input from various sources concerning product design & functionality to meet project & customer requirements & manufacturability of product designs.
Reviews product design for compliance with standard engineering practices, company & industry standards, customer contact requirements & related specifications.
Creates, maintains, &/or directs the creation/maintenance of essential design information & documentation including models, drafts, schematics & purchased part documentation as well as supporting technical publications.
Job Title:
The job title will be based on academic and prior years of experience.
Level I - Less than 2 years of experience in a product design or related engineering role.
Level II - Minimum of 2+ years of experience in a product design or related engineering role.
Level III - Minimum of 5+ years of experience in a product design or related engineering role.
Other Work Location Considerations:
Located at the Ditch Witch division headquarters in Perry, OK.
Office environment most of the time with regular trips to the shop and outside work.
Shop and outdoor environments include physical hazards such as utilities (typically gas, electric, and water lines), powered vehicle, bicycle, and pedestrian traffic, sharp objects, and moving machinery. The outdoor environment includes work in all kinds of weather while operating and demonstrating machinery and construction site conditions such as open excavations, unimproved land, uncompleted structures, etc.
Working with hazardous materials, including fuels, lubricants, solvents, and batteries.
Occasional overnight travel.
Rapidly changing workload, priorities, demands, schedules, and deadlines.
Regular, continuous use of a personal computer.
What Do You Need?
To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements:
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology or closely related engineering field.
Experience with CAD software & solid modeling.
Interest in mobile equipment design and operation.
Excellent oral and written communication skills. High degree of personal and professional integrity.
Strong process orientation and drive for continuous improvement.
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced technical or mechanical experience is a plus.
Prior experience with Solidworks or Creo preferred.

Competitive Salary - A reasonable pay range for this opportunity is $66,900-$110,600. The pay range takes into account skills, experience, education, and location. It is not common to be hired at or near the top of the range; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
