Monday thru Friday
Holiday Rotation Required (typically 1 holiday per year)
Call Rotation Required (4-6 days per month; including every 6th weekend)
RDMS or RT (S) required; RVT preferred (or preferred within 1 year of hire)

Overview

Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital offers highly specialized surgical and medical services in an intimate environment and is known for outstanding patient care. With 64 private patient rooms, 14 operating rooms and four intensive care unit rooms, the facility was designed to provide a comforting environment that is innovative, efficient and centered on the patient experience. The campus features a park-like setting with landscaping and a walking path that winds through the grounds and connects to Millennium Park.

The Department of Ultrasound at Barnes-Jewish West County is a highly specialized, full-service department which strives to meet all patient and clinician needs in diagnostic imaging and image-guided therapies.

Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

Performs diagnostic imaging procedures in Ultrasound on adults and/or pediatric patients for the purpose of diagnosis and/or treatment, and quality control. Assists staff technologist in prioritizing and problem-solving patient care or imaging concerns, and serves as a resource person. Delegates tasks to ensure proper daily operations. Assumes responsibilities of supervisor in their absence. Assists in the development and training of students and/or new employees. Provides continuing mentorship to the team.

Responsibilities

Assists in development, implementation and support of process improvement activities and monitors the success of implementation of new processes or changes.

Oversees shift operations to include daily workflow, assignments, lunch schedules, and adjusts priorities and assignments to best meet department needs. Enters/escalates IT and equipment tickets.

Serves as the clinical resource and expert for the technologists. Their responsibilities include but are not limited to: problem solving, assisting with difficult exams, and mentoring.

Serves as the clinical liaison between the team and leadership team. Ensures that proper information is communicated from the team and escalated to the supervisor appropriately.

Performs ultrasound imaging examinations and ensures proper documentation of procedures. Ensures proper function and readiness of all equipment. Performs studies independently, may perform studies on-call, portable exams, and at other sites as required by work area.
