The City of Chesapeake's Public Works Department is seeking a highly skilled Assistant Right-of-Way Agent II to lead real estate research efforts for large-scale projects and handle complex legal transactions. This role involves training junior agents, managing complex acquisitions and condemnations, and ensuring accurate documentation for financial and legal processes. The successful candidate will work within broad policy and organizational guidelines; will independently plan and implement projects; and will report progress of major activities through periodic conferences and meetings.

TYPICAL TASKS

• Reviews project plans and acquisition plats to ensure all required information is correct and in the proper format.
• Prepares estimates of value to determine Title Reporting requirements based on the estimate.
• Interprets and processes legal documents and deeds.
• Prepares and presents offers to landowners for the acquisition of private property for City purposes.
• Coordinates payments to landowners.
• Works with engineering and other City departments in responding to landowners' questions/concerns regarding acquisitions.
• Interprets land value appraisals performed by others.
• Works with the City Attorney's Office to ensure all agreements and deeds are properly prepared, executed and recorded.
• Performs other related duties as assigned
