SALARY RANGE
$100,000.00-$115,000.00 per year. The salary range for this position is based on academic preparation, teaching experience, research publications, and industry experience.
SUMMARY:
The California Institute of Advanced Management (CIAM) is a WSCUC accredited, non-profit graduate school located in Alhambra, California. CIAMs approach to education provides a practical and hands-on approach to students who are thereby equipped to lead and succeed in the industry. Our emphasis is on the application of the subject matter and the students ability to demonstrate the integration of the subject matter into their lives. The universitys mission is to build upon the philosophy of Peter F. Drucker, through classroom and online learning, producing successful, responsible globally oriented leaders who are rooted in practice using the principles of Management as a Liberal Art and business sub-disciplines to educate, train, and send out managers and leaders who are prepared and equipped for the needs of todays organizations, communities, and society.
In the Fall of 2025, the university is launching a new degree program: a Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership (MAOL). The one-year program is crafted around the teachings and insights of Peter Drucker, focusing on the development of leaders who excel in both managing organizations and driving beneficial societal change. Embracing Drucker's philosophy, the curriculum integrates traditional management theories with a liberal arts perspective, instilling critical and ethical thinking across various contexts. This comprehensive approach ensures that students not only absorb Druckers theories but also apply them practically, learning to lead with integrity and a deep sense of social responsibility.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Completed Ph.D., DBA, or ABD, in the humanities, social sciences, or management from a regionally accredited university (official transcripts required with application). Experience leading teams and projects. Experience teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level, preferably teaching leadership and/or management courses. Experience teaching and facilitating in person and online using various instructional methods. Knowledge of the theories and work of Peter Drucker, and ability to articulate this knowledge verbally and in writing. Familiarity with teaching via an LMS, experience with Canvas preferred. Published research in degree areas, preferably in the area of leadership. Demonstration of a life-long learner approach to the field and other subjects.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Teach graduate-level classes in the following modalities: face-to-face, online and hybrid. Integrate the philosophies of Peter Drucker, including Management as a Liberal Art, into courses taught. Assist and provide direction to students in high-impact learning experiences. Assist in curriculum development. Serve on department and university committees as well as faculty governance. Conduct and publish original research. Attend faculty and university meetings. Participate in Management as a Liberal Art training sessions and discussions. Represent CIAM to external constituents to further the focus on high-impact learning experiences for students. Disseminate results of research as appropriate to the discipline (e.g. by presentations at workshops/conferences). Contribute towards fostering a collaborative, respectful organizational culture.

Course Evaluations: Submit several evaluations for courses taught at the graduate level. Teaching Philosophy: Provide a 23-page summary of your teaching philosophy. The philosophy should include your purpose for teaching in higher education full time, expectations of students, teaching approach and methodologies used. Also explain your thoughts on teaching to the needs of society today. Include examples, learning experiences, and ideals you have for your students as well as yourself. References: Submit the names, titles, addresses, telephone numbers, and e-mail addresses of three people familiar with your academic and professional background who can be contacted concerning your qualifications. Please state their relationship to you; at least one person should be able to speak about your focus on your contributions to the betterment of society. Additional Information:
- Approved candidates will be invited first for a virtual interview, and then to our facilities in Alhambra, California, to present a lecture and participate in a series of individual and group interview sessions. Applicants residing in Southern California preferred. On-campus hours for teaching and institutional service are expected one day per week. This position does not offer visa sponsorship.
