Job Description Summary The Assistant Instructor, Welding is responsible for the following under the direction of the Lead Coordinator:

-Set up equipment used for student skills development
-Assist students with skills development
-Evaluate student's skills performance and report to Lead Instructor
-Maintain discipline during lab sessions/reporting misbehavior
-Clean equipment as needed and replacing in proper location
-Perform minor maintenance/repairs to equipment and replacing in proper location
-Replace disposable supplies used in lab sessions
-Help with inventory of cylinders, consumables, and parts for equipment
-Assist faculty with advising and registration
-Substitute for classes when needed
-Help with recruiting and attend skills competitions and other related events

Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Five (5) years of documented work experience in Welding or related field.

Job Duties

Assist coordinators and faculty at a variety of times and locations in response to institutional need and make continuous effort to advance the quality of instruction. Maintain appropriate professional relationships with students, colleagues and industry partners.

Maintain equipment as needed to keep all in operational condition. Set up equipment for laboratory skills, testing and demonstration purposes. Coordinate scheduled maintenance for equipment and supplies.

Participate in the self-evaluation process and establish goals and objectives which may include personal and professional development plans in consultation with the department chair.

Accept special assignments occasionally. Participate in department, divisional and college meetings and college related activities such as registration and participate in activities required to maintain program and college accreditation.
