Role and Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the payroll process for all employees, ensuring timely and accurate payroll distribution.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations related to payroll and employment taxes.
  • Utilize the CMiC system to manage and streamline payroll functions effectively.
  • Ensure accuracy of various payroll deductions related to multiple craftworker unions and other employee groups.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the payroll team, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
  • Communicate proactively with employees regarding payroll inquiries, ensuring clear and timely responses.
  • Prepare, analyze, and present payroll reports to management, ensuring accuracy and compliance with reporting timelines.
  • Collaborate with HR and finance departments to streamline payroll processes and improve overall efficiency.
  • Prepare and submit payroll tax reports, ensuring the timely payment of payroll taxes and related obligations.

Additional duties

  • Stay updated on changes to tax laws and regulations to minimize risk, ensuring compliance and best practices.
  • Develop and maintain payroll policies and procedures that adhere to regulations while improving efficiency.
  • Assist with internal and external audits related to payroll and taxation, providing necessary documentation and support.
  • Perform other finance and accounting duties as assigned, supporting overall department objectives.

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of payroll experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or management role.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations related to payroll.
  • Proficiency in CMiC software is preferred; experience in additional accounting software is a plus.
  • Experience in the construction industry is desirable but not mandatory.
  • Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving capabilities, and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a proactive approach to resolving issues.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team effectively.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities, capable of handling multiple priorities efficiently.
