Responsibilities*
- Provide care to patients and families in the Wound Care Clinic at Domino's Farms. Serve as a clinical resource and consultant to patients, families, UMHS providers and referring providers in the management of complex and chronic wounds.
- Interview patients to obtain a detailed history, perform examinations, and present pertinent data to the Medical staff.
- Collect and assist in the interpretation of reports from diagnostic and laboratory tests, radiographic procedures, and clinical evaluations.
- Order tests and prescribe medications under the supervision of a physician.
- Collaborate with medical staff in the delivery of care to patients and families.
- Coordinate care and make internal/external referrals as appropriate.
- Provide appropriate written and electronic documentation regarding patient status, evaluations, and treatment.
- Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to develop/implement patient education and clinical pathways for the care of patients with chronic and complex wounds.
- Evaluate appropriateness of and supervise patients in the Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Chamber.
- Candidate will participate in department meetings to continually improve clinic processes.
- The candidate will participate in continuing education/professional development activities to maintain role competency, increase professional knowledge, and stay current on the care of complex and chronic wound care.
- Certified Wound Care Advanced Practice/Wound Care Specialist (WCC-AP) by a nationally recognized accreditation board within one to four years of hire if not already certified, and dependent upon experience. Wound certification must be maintained while in this role.
Required Qualifications*
NP
- Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner specialty certification in the State of Michigan.
- Current specialty certification to practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AG-PCNP)
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
- Certification as a Nurse Practitioner recognized by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN).
- Current DEA registration
- Current BLS certification
PA
- Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant in the State of Michigan.
- Satisfactory completion of a Physician Assistant program accredited by Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) or one of its predecessor agencies, CAHEA or CAAHEP.
- Certification by the National Commission on Certification for Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
- State of Michigan Controlled Substance License required
- Current DEA registration
- Current BLS certification

Desired Qualifications*
- Two or more years (within the past 4 years) Advanced Practice direct care experience with adult patients in an inpatient or outpatient setting (NP or PA experience).
- One-year experience (within the past 4 years) providing care to patients and families with acute and chronic wounds.
- Experience with Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy chamber.
- Certified Wound Care Advanced Practice/Wound Care Specialist (WCC-AP) by a nationally recognized accreditation board.
- Minimum one year of ambulatory care experience.

- Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated computer proficiency using the electronic medical record and Microsoft office products.
- Demonstrated experience with care coordination and management of complex patient populations.

Union Affiliation
This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the United Physician Assistants of Michigan Medicine, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
