Summary

This position is located at Bureau of the Fiscal Service, Administrative Resource Center (ARC); Office and Division as assigned as an Accounting Technician. The mission of the Administrative Resource Center is to promote government efficiency by delivering cost effective and quality administrative and financial services through a shared services model.

Duties

The following are the duties of this position at the GS-07. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties and will receive training to help you grow in this position. As an Accounting Technician you will:

  • Review routine, complex and unusual documents to verify accounting data, mathematical accuracy.
  • Perform account reconciliations; processes, certifies, records and reports receipts and expenditures accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with governing regulations.
  • Determine and initiates necessary accounting transactions, enter data into an automated accounting system, compare accounting transactions to source documents and correct invalid or erroneous entries.
  • Perform research of current transactions, historical data, source documents, etc., to identify significant changes and determine related transactions and causes, to take and or coordinate corrective actions as needed.

  • Must successfully complete a background investigation. Periodic reinvestigation is required no later than five years after selection and at least every succeeding five years.

  • This position requires that the successful candidate undergo personnel vetting, which includes a background investigation and enrollment upon onboarding into "Continuous Vetting." Enrollment in Continuous Vetting will result in automated record checks being conducted throughout one's employment with Treasury. The successful candidate will also be enrolled into FBI's Rap Back service, which will allow Treasury to receive notification from the FBI of criminal matters (e.g., arrests, charges, convictions) involving enrolled individuals in near real-time. Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or . One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/day/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week on your résumé.

For the GS-7 you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
-Experience with accounting procedures sufficient to review documents to verify accounting data and reconcile accounts in automated financial systems AND
-Research and identify issues on accounts payable, budget, disbursements, or accounts receivable.

For the GS-6 you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience includes:
- Reviewing supporting documents to verify accounting data AND
- Reconciling accounts in an automated system.
