OBJECTIVE:
The Accounting Manager at Monzon & Son is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the company, ensuring accurate recordkeeping, compliance with financial regulations, and efficient management of accounting functions. This role will involve managing accounts payable and receivable, financial reporting, budgeting, payroll oversight, and ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures. The incumbent will collaborate with executive leadership to provide financial insights that support business growth and operational efficiency.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Oversee daily accounting operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, including profit and loss, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
- Develop and monitor financial budgets, forecasting revenue and expenses.
- Generate reports for management, auditors, and stakeholders to support financial decision-making.
- Supervise billing, invoicing, and collection efforts to maintain cash flow.
- Ensure timely processing of vendor payments, reconciliations, and expense reporting.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable functions, including credit and collections activities.
- Oversee payroll processes, ensuring accurate salary disbursements, deductions, and compliance with tax regulations.
- Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local tax laws and prepare necessary filings.
- Maintain compliance with financial regulations, including prevailing wage laws, certified payroll requirements, and labor compliance standards when applicable.
- Implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and prevent fraud.
- Prepare and coordinate audits, tax filings, and financial reviews.
- Ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded and documented.
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing training and performance management.
- Work closely with executive leadership, department managers, and external financial professionals to align financial strategies with business goals.
- Support cross-departmental initiatives that require financial oversight.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Occasional lifting and carrying of office supplies or files, up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to move around the office to oversee accounting staff and collaborate with other departments.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 3+ years of experience in accounting or financial management, preferably in the transportation, construction, or logistics industries.
- Construction Trucking accounting experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and budgeting.
- Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Experience managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines.
